Ok, I'm kind of a hypocrite. For three years I had biased opinions about Harleys and Harley riders. I was ignored by them on the Savage and developed my own snoty attitude towards them in return. I always felt that Harleys would not make a good commuter bike because of percieved maintenance costs and reliability problems. However, my attitude has changed. First of all, for all of you who have never been in a Harley Dealership, it was an experience. I'm used to being treated like sh#t at Japanese dealerships. They seem like used car salesmen. The Harley dealership was a great experience. They treated me like royalty! The Sportster comes with a basic solo saddle. They threw a dual, more comfy saddle in for free along with screamin eagle exhuasts and carb jetting modification (adds 10 hp). I also got 179$ in free accessories. For the first 500 miles I have to baby the bike. I can't go over 55mph. I now have just over 300 miles on her. I must say, even at 1/4 throttle, this bike is much more powerful than Suzy. This is not a put down, just simple fact of life. I love my Savage, but power wise, she can't compete. I havn't even opened the Sportster up yet! As far as reliability goes, that will remain to be seen. I purchase a five year/unlimited mileage service contract with Harley, so if I run into internal engine problems, they bite the farm (hopefully). I will keep posting on this new bike. Ride safe
